Corrosion resistant materials

Brooks Composites design and manufacture with a wide range of engineering thermoplastics and composites, matching the corrosion resistant properties of individual materials to the specific demands of each application. In each case there is a specific corrosion barrier reinforced with an individually designed glass/resin composite structure.

Materials employed range from simple Orthophthalic and Isophthalic thermosetting resins to the highly corrosion resistant Atlac, Derakane and Furane range of resins.

The thermoplastic and fluoropolymer materials employed as internal corrosion barriers are UPVC, Polypropylene, PVDF, E-CTFE (Halar) and FEP.

Corrosion resistance table
The following table is intended as a guide to the selection of suitable construction materials. However, if you have a duty requirement that is not covered below, please send your enquiry to our Technical Department

The classification categories are as follows:

R = Resistant

  Within the acceptable limits of pressure and temperature with the construction material being insignificantly affected.

CR = Conditionally resistant

  The contents can attack the material and welds or cause swelling. Before use, consideration must be given to concentration of contents, pressure, temperature, volume and cyclic loading. Service life of equipment may be shortened.

NR = Not recommended

  The material is not recommended for use with the medium at all.

ND = No data available

This does not preclude its use but reference should be made to our Technical Department.
